NPC Chairman Meets Lions Club International Delegation
Chairman Li Peng of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress met with a delegation of the Lions Club International (LCI) and also optometrists from nine countries and regions participating the World Sight Day activity held Thursday morning.

Li thanked LCI for its efforts to help the disabled people in China and had praise for Sightfirst China Action, a blindness prevention and treatment project carried out through combined efforts of China and the LCI.

The Chinese government and people underscore the importance of the project and hope that both sides will cooperate more closely to benefit more Chinese people suffering from blindness, said Li.

He also spoke highly of the active role played by LCI in deepening understanding, cooperation and friendship among peoples of different countries.

Jear Behar, president of LCI, held up Sightfirst China Action as a model for international cooperation and thanked the Chinese government for supporting the project.

Established in the United States in 1917, LCI stands as one of the world's leading charitable organizations.
