Chinese Vice-Premier Mourns Death of Veteran Sri Lankan Stateswoman

Chinese Vice-Premier Qian Qichen, on behalf of the Chinese government, went to the Sri Lankan embassy in Beijing Thursday morning, expressing deep condolence over the passing away of former Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mrs. Sirimavo Bandaranaike.

Chinese President Jiang Zemin, Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee Li Peng and Premier Zhu Rongji presented wreaths.
