China-Africa Forum Holds Conference, Seminar

Officials from Africa's sub-regional organizations held a plenary session at the China-Africa Cooperation Forum Thursday morning, while delegates from Africa and China held a workshop on poverty alleviation and sustainable agricultural development.

Those that gave speeches at the plenary session include Louis Sylvain-Goma, secretary-general of the Economic Community of Central African States, Libyan Foreign Minister Abdel Rahman Shalgham, Preg Ramsamy, interim executive secretary of the Southern African Development Community, Francis Muthaura, executive secretary of the secretariat of the East African Community, and Erastus Mwencha, secretary-general of the secretariat of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Ji Peiding briefed the participants on discussions about the two final documents of the three-day forum.

Equatorial Guinean Foreign Minister Santiago Nsobeya Efuman chaired the session.

The workshop on poverty alleviation and agriculture was co-chaired by China and Ethiopia.
