Konka Develops Color TV Micro Control Unit

Konka Group President Chen Weirong announced Monday that they have successfully developed a micro control unit (MCU) which has already been applied to production of color TV sets and they no longer depend on imported ones.

Commonly known as the heart of color TV sets, MCU is a chip that controls all functions of a color TV set. Most of Chinese television producers still have to depend on imported MCU in making of color TV sets.

According to Chen, the MCU developed by his company has powerful functions and great memory, is easily updated by software and is also 20 percent lower than foreign ones in terms of cost.

Konka Group is one of China's leading color TV manufacturers and possesses 20 percent of the country's color TV market. It has set up a lab in the Silicon Valley of the United States, which has helped greatly improve the company's technological innovation capacity.

Chen disclosed that his company had been concentrating on development of other state-of-the-art technologies such as digital TV chips and mobile phone chips.
