Wei Jianxing Ends Visit To Germany

Wei Jianxin, standing committee member of the Political Bureau of the 15th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC), ended his visit to Germany on Wednesday.

During Tuesday's talks with German Defense Minister Rudolf Scharping, Wei said the CPC would like to establish ties and strengthen cooperation with German political parties.

Scharping, also vice chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and chairman of the Party of European Socialists (PES), expressed his hope for friendly cooperation between the CPC and German parties, including the PES and the SPD, since China is playing an increasingly important role in the world.

Scharping paid his first visit to China in 1987.

Wei, who arrived in Germany on October 12, left for Moldova on Wednesday.
