Chinese Domain Name Registration Ranks 11th in the World

There have been more than 10 million websites in the world which are suffixed by "com", "net", "org", etc. According to the latest statistics provided by NSI, the Asia-Pacific region sees the fastest growth in domain name registration. Among Asian countries, China has leaped to the 11th placing in the world in this connection. Beijing has also become one of the 10 cities which have the most registered domain names in the world.

According to the investigation conducted by NSI, the world's total number of registered domain names was only 1 million in 1997, the figure increased by 10 times in three years. The upsurge of domain name registration has spread from the United States to Asian countries. Latest statistics show that among the countries and regions which registered the most domain names in the first half of this year, the Republic of Korea, China, India and Japan took their places in the top 20. Among the cities with the most registered domain names, Hong Kong ranked fourth, and Beijing, 10th.
