Hong Kong Central Library Preparation in ProgressThe Hong Kong Central Library (HKCL) is expected to be opened to the general public around April or May next year, said Hong Kong's Director of Leisure and Cultural Services Paul Leung Sai-wah Wednesday.The 12-storey building, located across the Victoria Park, occupies a site of 9,400 square meters, more than double the size of the current biggest library of Hong Kong located at Tsuen Wan, and is built at a cost of 690 million HK dollars (about 88.5 million U.S. dollars). HKCL will house about 120 million library materials at the beginning of its opening, with an aim to increase to about 2 million. |
