Stone Coffin Unearthed in Hebei ProvinceAn ancient stone coffin dating back 2,000 to 3,000 years ago has been excavated in Fengning County in north China's Hebei Province.Archeologists unearthed 19 relics, including bronze wares, stone wares and bone items. They believed that the relics belonged to the people of the Shanrong ethnic group, who lived during the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 B.C) and the Warring States Period (475-221 B.C.). Archeologists also discovered ruins of a temple and mills in the Liao Dynasty (907-1125) and Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) in the area around the coffin. They believed that the unearthed relics will shed light on the study of the history of the area in northern Beijing. |
