China Leads in World's Forest Fire Prevention

It almost makes no exception for every country in the world to pay high attention to forest fire prevention. In the past ten years, China has made great effort for elimination of forest fires. A fact to be noted is that forest fire occurred in China has been cut to a 0.4бы,far less than world average of 1бы, according to sources from China International Disaster Alleviation Committee.

Forest fires generally break out to bring the biggest loss and disaster to the world. Worse still, there is greenhouse effect baffling men's effort for wiping out forest fire. According to skimpy statistics, an annual total of 220,000 forest fires occur throughout the world and damage more than 6.40 million hectares of forest, or 1.8бы of world forest total.

China is a country most often devastated by forest fires. It is said that every year it has seen an annual total of 15,000 forest fires to have broken out to bring damages to over 970,000 hectares of forest and a death toll of 800 persons during the years from inauguration of the People's Republic in 1949 to 1987. Since after great ravages caused by a big fire on Greater Hingang Mountains China has made great efforts in prevention of forest fires and has had losses greatly cut. From 1988 to November 1999, China saw a total of 7000 fires occurred over 50,000 hectares of forest land and with these a cut loss of 270 lives was achieved to place the country in a much improved situation in fighting forest fire.
