International Art Show Opens in Shanghai

An international art exhibition showcasing more than 200 pieces of art works by contemporary artists of the world opened Monday in Shanghai.

The exhibition is held every two years. Entitled "2000 Shanghai Biennial Art Museum", the exhibition displays artistic works by 67 artists from 18 countries and regions, said local sources.

At today's opening ceremony, Pierre Restang, a representative from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), presented awards for popularizing art to four artists from the Republic of Korea, Indonesia, France and the United States.

During the exhibition, six seminars will be held.

The exhibition will run from today through until January 6 next year.
