HK Immigration Officers to Visit Mainland

A 10-member delegation of the Immigration Department of Hong Kong will be leaving on November 15 for a study visit program in five cities on the Chinese mainland, an official announced on Sunday.

The 11-day visit program aims at enhancing understanding and co-operation with the mainland and promoting better working relations, Director of Immigration Ambrose LEE said at a briefing.

Following the reunification, co-operation and communication between the Immigration Department and the mainland are ever increasing, said LEE.

"With a view to facilitating an exchange of knowledge and experience between officers and their mainland counterparts, we consider a regular study visit program to the mainland is highly desirable," he said.

Principal Immigration Officer LAI Chun-ting, accompanied by five officers and four rank-and-file members, will visit Beijing, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
