Discussion on Unified Standard for Chinese Network

A discussion was held Monday by CNNIC and Taiwan's TWNIC for the unified standard of global Chinese domain name and Chinese code. In view of the importance of the Chinese networks in global market, whether Chinese network standard can be unified has roused great attention of the world software manufactures, e-commerce and website insiders.

As regards the Chinese code there are several editions, which are used to access a website. They are the ISO10646 of international standard, GB18030, the standard of China's mainland, Taiwan's Big 5 and Unicode edition advocated by Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Hewlett-Packard and Compaq.
