EU-Backed Vocational Training Program in South China

An agreement has been signed for establishing a center in Liuzhou City, in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, to train qualified workers for businesses with investment from the European Union.

It is part of the China-EU Industry vocational training program, a cooperation scheme signed by the Chinese Government and EU recently to enhance the capabilities of human resources.

Under the program, the EU will provide 15.1 million euros to train 1,200 workers and 100 teachers for businesses with investment from the EU and related organizations.

The Liuzhou center will be the program's second facility of this kind in China. The first center was launched in central China's Hubei Province this January.

Guangxi is now home to 60 businesses with investment from the EU. Representatives from China and the EU believe that the new center will help improve the expertise of Chinese workers in EU-invested businesses in Guangxi, the competitiveness of products made by these enterprises and will help promote Guangxi's opening-up and economic globalization.
