Trade Associations Pivotal for Development of Private Enterprises

A business celebrity noted in Kunming Monday, December 11, that it is a must to develop trade associations, which play a pivotal role in improving the progress of Chinese private enterprises.

Leo J.Q. Liao, executive chairman of the World Chinese Entrepreneurs General Association (WCEGA), made the remarks at the first Chinese non-State-owned enterprises fair, which opened last Friday in the capital city of southwest China's Yunnan Province.

In developed countries, trade associations are very important in private enterprises' development and trade activities, Liao said.

Private enterprises are able to enjoy various advantages through trade associations, such as to coordinate their interests, share information and optimize the allocation of capital and resources.

After China enters the World Trade Organization, Chinese private enterprises will have more opportunity to be involved with international trade associations.

Without these associations, it will be difficult to reach the best result, he said.
