China to Accelerate Personnel System Reform

A top Chinese official said December 19 that personnel departments across the country should accelerate personnel system reforms and develop human resources.

State Councilor Wang Zhongyu made the remark at the opening ceremony of the national conference on personnel work, attended by heads of personnel departments across the country.

During the 1996-2000 period personnel departments nationwide have made efforts in reforming the personnel system, regulating the talent structure, and training talents of different levels, he said.

The coming five to 10 years are an important period of national economic development and personnel departments nationwide should take time to nurture and attract high-level talents, optimize talents structure, establish a system to help attract talents, and improve the level of public service.

Wang said that localities should take full advantage of this opportunity and ensure implementation of their talent strategy.

The state councilor called on those working in personnel departments to improve their political and professional capabilities to better serve the people.
