Exhibition of National Treasures Opens
A national treasures exhibition opened on the first day of the new century in the art museum of the China Centenary Altar in Beijing.

Some 140 series of 201 delicate Chinese cultural artifacts, including bronze ware excavated from the Sanxingdui site in southwest China's Sichuan Province, serial bells of the Warring States Period (475 B.C.- 221 B.C.) and some terra-cotta warriors and horses, will be shown to the public till January 28 in the 20,000 sq.m. new art museum on the second floor of the altar, an symbolic piece of architecture completed recently to greet the new century.

Other cultural activities, including the Mayan Civilization and modern artwork exhibitions, have also been arranged to welcome visitors following the current treasure show.
