Sino-Japan Track/Field Cooperation Projected

Shandong-Suzuki Track and Field Team, the first of its kind, formed by China's Shandong Province and Japan's Suzuki Motor Corporation, announced its inauguration in Beijing January 3.

The team was made up of 15 members including Chen Yuxiang, 200-meter champion of the XIII Asian Games��Bangkok, Ren Ruiping, Asian record holder of women triple jump, Li Shaojie, record breaker of men's discus throw of Asian Games. Their events include sprint, middle distance, long jump, discus and others. Training and matches will be held between the two sides.

Shang Xiutang, vice chairman of Chinese Athletics Association said that the cooperation between the two sides marks a new way in China's track and field management and training under the market economy. It will also provide a new mode and experience for China's athletics cause.
