Public Security Minister Meets HK Police Chief

Minister of Public Security Jia Chunwang met in Beijing January 5 with Tsang Yam-pui, the newly-appointed commissioner of the Hong Kong Police Force of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government.

In their talks, the minister praised the HK Police Force for its important commitment to fighting crime, maintaining social stability and protecting local citizens in the SAR.

Jia expressed his expectation that in the new century, cooperation between local police departments and units in inland areas and the HK Police Force will make further progress and achievements through cooperation.

There have been six working meetings between inland police departments and the HK Police Force since China resumed its exercise of sovereignty over Hong Kong in 1997, according to the minister.
