China Tie Japan 2-2 in Second Meeting in Ice Hockey International

China were held to a 2-2 draw by Japan on Sunday in their second meeting at a women's ice hockey international competition here.

China defeated Japan 4-2 on Thursday in the opening match of the first stage of the competition. But they faced a big challenge from the Japanese in Sunday's game.

Each team scored a goal in the first quarter before the Japanese stole a 2-1 lead with a goal in the second.

China, the world A pool team, leveled in the third quarter and produced many chances to win the game. But their consistent attacking efforts were denied by Japanese goalkeeper.

The competition will enter the second stage on Monday when Kazakhstan join in with a opener against Japan. The China's national team will meet China's Team of Retirement.
