Zhejiang Reports Year's Record Tourist Arrivals

Zhejiang Province registered 1.08 million arrivals of overseas tourists and 62 million arrivals of domestic tourists in 2000, up 18 and 21 percent, respectively, from the previous year.

The record high tourist arrivals brought in 500 million U.S. dollars and 44.6 billion yuan (5.4 billion U.S. dollars) in revenue, up 18 and 19 percent respectively, according to the provincial tourism bureau.

The coastal province in east China has rich tourism resources. In 2000 the province offered a number of specially designed routes to tourists. It also staged special activities like the spectacular Qiantang Tide Watching, the Zhoushan Sand Sculpture Show, and the Hangzhou Golden Autumn International Tourism Festival.
