R&D: IBM teams up with Peking, Tsinghua universities

IBM China Co Ltd has signed memorandums of understanding with Peking and Tsinghua universities to jointly set up research institutes, according to company sources.

According to the memorandums, IBM will provide most hardware and software, research and development equipment, and working expenses for the institutes to be set up. The two universities on their part will provide offices, laboratories and personnel.

Zhou Weikun, chairman and chief executive officer of IBM Great China Region, said during the signing ceremony�� "It is a great honor for IBM to cooperate with such famous universities as Peking and Tsinghua.

"The cooperation will greatly promote technology innovation and facilitate the marketing of laboratory achievements." (Chinadaily)
