HK's Property Giant Touches Biotechnology

Hong Kong's leading real estate developer Cheung Kong (Holdings) has set up a laboratory for research on biotechnology, reported the South China Morning Post Wednesday.

The research will focus on agriculture, pharmaceuticals and environmental protection, the English-language daily quoted industry sources as saying.

CK Technology Laboratory has been registered at the Company Registry with the same address as Cheung Kong and has started initial research into fertilizers and environmentally-friendly energy.

The new business, though tiny in scale compared with the rest of Cheung Kong's businesses, will help position the company in a lucrative sector, the report said.
