Danish Delegation to Visit Iraq to Promote Ties
A 40-member Danish delegation is expected to arrive in the Iraqi capital next week for talks on promoting cooperation, the official Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported on Saturday.
The delegation will also hold a medical exhibition in Baghdad and discuss with the Iraqi side on the prospects of investments in the oil-rich country, the INA said.
This will be the first Danish delegation to visit Baghdad since the 1991 Gulf War, triggered by Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in 1990.
Iraq has been under stringent United Nations sanctions since its invasion of Kuwait, but an oil-for-food program, launched in 1996, allows the sanctions-hit country to sell oil to buy food, medicine and other basic necessities to offset the impacts of the sanctions.
