Non-governmental Groups Send Letter to Samaranch to Support Beijing Bid

Representatives from around 1,100 non-governmental groups in Beijing today signed in a letter which expressed their support for Beijing's bid for the 2008 Olympic Games and is to be dedicated to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Juan Samaranch.

The goodwill letter, which bears the names of those non-governmental communities and signatures of the representatives, will be entrusted by the Beijing bidding committee to the visiting IOC evaluation commission in the first place.

"We're firmly convinced that Beijing will have been fully prepared in every aspect in the year of 2008, " the letter says. " And we believe Beijing is the most ideal city to host the 2008 Olympic Games."

The non-governmental groups come from various fields including hi-technology, commerce, construction, sports, education, sanitation, environment.
