French Newspaper Hails Annual Sessions of NPC, CPPCC

The French newspaper Nouvelles D' Europe says Sunday that the discussion of the outline of China's 10th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development during the annual sessions of the National People's Congress and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference marks the start to attain China's third-phase development objective.

The paper says in an editorial that by the mid-21st century China will have joined the rank of moderately developed countries.

The editorial notes: "To attain this lofty goal, China must maintain a stable social environment, because historical experience has proved that only in this way will China be able to concentrate on carrying out economic construction and making scientific and technological innovations."

It adds: "China's tremendous economic success has been achieved under the social system chosen by the entire Chinese people. It is through their own efforts that the Chinese people have scored social progress and economic development over the past dozens of years."
