Pakistan Navy Test-fires Two Missiles

Pakistan Navy on Saturday successfully test-fired two missiles in the North Arabian sea, some 80 nautical mile southwest of Karachi, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).

Spokesman for Pakistan Navy Captain Zafar Iqbal told a press conference held in Karachi that one SM-39, which is a sub-surface to surface missile, was launched from the newly acquired Agosta 90- B submarine.

Meanwhile, the other AM-39, which is the air-launched version of the same missile, was launched from the modernized Atlantic aircraft, he said.

Zafar said that both the missiles were fired near the maximum range on to the target, which was completely destroyed.

"In order to maintain its operational readiness, provide practical operational training to its crews and to instill confidence in them, Pakistan Navy routinely carries out these type of exercises", he added.
