Guangzhou Tax Administration Vows to Combat Corruption

Internal corruption has become a bottleneck in the course of development of tax administration work in south China's Guangdong Province, according to Chen Liuming, director of the Taxation Bureau of Guangdong Province.

He made the remark at a meeting of leading local taxation officials Wednesday.

The participants urged the establishment of an anti-corruption mechanism in local tax administrations, along with strict supervision of important tax-collecting practices.

Local sources said that heavy penalties will be imposed for export drawback fraud this year.

A work team under the State Council uncovered rampant fraud related to export drawback in Guangdong last year.
