Hong Kong Park to Install New Fountain

Hong Kong Park to Install New Fountain
Hong Kong Park is expected to be equipped with new Viennese drinking fountain, with distinctive bronze fittings which resemble the on-going nature of water cycle.

This will become a new feature in Hong Kong Park for the benefit and enjoyment of all the people in the city, said the Director of Water Supplies Hugh Phillipson when officiating at the inauguration ceremony of the drinking fountain Monday.

The inauguration not only forms part of our celebration for the 150 years of water supply in Hong Kong, but also marks the United Nations World Water Day on March 22, he said.

Made of Chinese marble, the unique fountain was designed by a renowned Austrian sculptor, Professor Hans Muhr.

Similar fountains have been put up in other world-class cities such as Berlin, Budapest, Chicago and Leipzig and will possibly be installed in cities like Geneva, New York, Stockholm and Tokyo in the future.
