HK LegCo Panels Set Out for Overseas Duty Visits

Two delegations from the Hong Kong Legislative Council panels will depart for London Wednesday to start overseas duty visits, the Legislative Council Secretariat said on Wednesday.

One of the delegations represents the Panel on Financial Affairs and the Bills Committee on Securities and Futures Bill and Banking (Amendment) Bill 2000. It will visit London, Washington DC and New York from April 5 to 13.

"The visit is aimed for enhancing members' understanding of the financial infrastructure of some of the world-leading financial centers and establishing direct links with their regulatory bodies and major market players," the LegCo Secretariat said.

The other delegation is formed by members of the Legislative Council Panel on Environmental Affairs. From April 5 to 11, it will visit prominent sewage treatment plants in Britain, Germany and France which adopt advanced technologies, including Biological Aerated Filters (BAF), in the treatment of sewage.
