Foreign Trade Grows Notably in Macao

China's Macao special administrative region (SAR) exported 950 million patacas (118.75 million US dollars) of commodities in February, up 30.4 percent on an annual basis, latest statistics show.

On the other hand, the import value rose 20.6 percent year-on- year to 720 million patacas (90 million dollars), according the latest figures from the Statistics and Census Services of the SAR government.

Textile products and clothes account for a major part of the exports. Other export goods include machinery equipment and spare parts and shoes. These were mainly sold to the United States and the European Union.

Most of the imports, including capital goods, consumer goods, fuel and lubricating oil, came from Asia. Imports from the inland areas and Hong Kong made up about half of the total.

Statistics show that in the first two months of this year, the export value dropped 12.3 percent to 2.27 billion patacas (283.75 million dollars), while the import value, up 20.9 percent to 2.47 billion patacas (308.75 million dollars).
