China to Jump-start On-line College Student Enrollment Next Year

The Ministry of Education said Tuesday that China will launch nationwide on-line college enrollment next year through a CERNET system, which has passed an expert appraisal.

The computer system, developed by the prestigious Qinghua University, underwent a trial operation in parts of China last year during the country's college enrollment period between July and September.

The system establishes a connection between student recruiting offices and universities across the country, and provides data on about 4 million students annually.
