Bulgaria, Romania Agree to Cooperate on Entry Into NATO

Bulgarian Defense Minister Boiko Noev said Friday that his country and Romania will stand together on the issue of joining NATO, and there is no question of rivalry, Bulgarian Telegraph Agency reported.

Noev made the remark during a meeting with Romanian counterpart Ioan Mircea Pascu in Giurgiu, a southern Romanian border town near Bulgaria.

On top of the agenda are preparations of Bulgaria and Romania for NATO membership and reforms in both countries armed forces, said the report.

The two agreed that logistics experts from both sides should start working on the integration of military communications with a view to NATO membership.

During the meeting, the two defense ministers also agreed on cooperation between the Bulgarian and Romanian air forces. The agreement will be signed in Romania within a month by the two air force commanders.
