State Councilor Calls for Continued Crackdown on Counterfeiting

State Councilor Wu Yi Wednesday urged related departments across China to continue the anti-counterfeiting campaign to safeguard the order of the market.

She also called for efforts to further strengthen law enforcement while executing the anti-counterfeiting campaign.

The state councilor made the call Wednesday at the second national tele-conference on the anti-counterfeiting campaign being attended by heads of central government departments and local governments nationwide.

Wu pointed out that although remarkable achievements have been made in cracking down on counterfeiting activities in recent months, illegal manufacturing and sales of fake and shoddy products are still rampant in some areas.

The fresh round of anti-counterfeiting campaign should focus on five major areas, including foodstuffs, medicine and medical instruments, seeds, pesticides and chemical fertilizers, cotton and assembled motor vehicles, she said.

Government departments at all levels should make utmost efforts to smash the illegal activities of producing fake and shoddy products, improve investigations into top-range counterfeiting cases, step up supervision over law-enforcement officials, destroy seized inferior goods in public, and severely punish the law- violators, she noted.
