Tarim River Supplied with Regulated Water

The lower reach of the Tarim River in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is supplied with water from the Bosteng Lake. Running day and night, the four water pumps at the west pumping station of the Bosteng Lake are conducting water of 9 million cubic meters everyday via Kongque River to reach Daxihaizi to water the lower reaches of the Tarim River. Monkey From Brazil

A black howler monkey, presented by the CBMM Co. of Brazil, will meet public at Shanghai Zoo with its companion next month. Feeding on vegetable and fruits, the apes, both aged 4, will increase the number of primates at the zoo to 44.

Harness Sandstorms

A man walks on the cover of a water transfer channel in Minqin County in northwest China's Gansu Province May 21, 2001. The channel is the first of its kind built by the country for the irrigation of 8,800 hectares of land. The provincial Hexi Area has also transformed 450 entrance of sandstorms by building over 1,200-kilometer windbreak and dune-fixing forest.
