First Chinese Cultural Book Expo Held in Greater Washington

Sources from Washington say in a Chinese school in Los Angeles May 27 there has been on the first Greater Washington Chinese Cultural Book Expo, co-sponsored by Chinese Universities Press Association and Science Press New York Branch and some others. Put on display at the Expo are nearly 20,000 in more than 3000 kinds of books published by more than 300 publishing houses in China's mainland, as reported.

According to a sponsor, Chinese books covering many fields as Chinese classical literature, contemporary literature, social science, reference books, children readers, practical life books, Chinese and foreign arts are in great need by a wide readership in the US.

Zhang Ju, general manager of the New York Branch of Science Press, said that some two-thirds of books have been sold out at the expo, of which most are in the category of children's books and are related to life. He also said that more book expos as the current one would be held in the future.
