Reception Marks 30th Anniversary of Sino-Turkish Ties

A reception was held Monday in the Great Hall of the People to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Turkey.

Wang Wenyuan, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended the reception, which was hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Sino-Turkish Friendship Association.

Wang Yunze, vice-president of the CPAFFC, addressed the reception, hailing the smooth development of bilateral ties.

Both China and Turkey have a long histories, and the "Silk Road " linked the two nations as early as 2,000 years ago, recollected Wang.

Senior leaders of the two countries have exchanged frequent visits, and friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two have witnessed sustained development, he stressed.

He said that to strengthen the bilateral ties is the common wish of the people of both countries and is beneficial to world peace and development, noting that the CPAFFC is willing to contribute to promoting bilateral ties.

Rafet Akgunay, Turkish ambassador to China, said in his toast that Turkey is willing to deepen ties with China, and generations of people in both countries should continue their efforts to promote bilateral ties.

Xinhua learned that a special delegation headed by Kemal Baytas, president of the Turkey-China Friendship Association, is here to attend various celebrations to mark Sino-Turkish ties.
