SCO Nations to Upgrade Economic Cooperation: Kazakh President

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said Friday morning in Shanghai that the six member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will further expand their trade and economic cooperation in coming years.

President Nazarbayev made the remarks when meeting with the press after signing the declaration of Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the pact on crackdown on terrorism, separatism and extremism together with his counterparts of China, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

He said after resolving border issues between them, the six nations should pay more attention to economic issues, especially transportation construction.

He said that the scheduled meeting of heads of the governments of the SCO in Kazakhstan in autumn is scheduled to focus on long- term economic and trade cooperation between the countries from 2001 to 2010.
