Angolan Women Hold Meeting for Peace

Angolan Women's Movement for Peace and Development (WMPD), an renowned non-government organization in the country, is currently holding a national conference here, with an aim to highlight the urgent need for peace in the country.

WMPD Chairwoman Cesinanda Xavier said here on Friday that the motto of the three-day conference is "For the Right to Life, Let's Seek for Peace with Love", adding that the Angolan women consider peace their top priority.

Xavier said that the females are those who suffer most in the war, adding that "we are going to reflect on our situation and seek for a solution and not a problem".

Historian Ana Faria, addressing the meeting on "the war and its impact on the woman", said that woman farmers suffer most in the armed conflict.

According to the women organization, this forum aims to define a more active role of women in the resolution of Angolan conflict and elect representatives for the inter-Angolan dialogue, where women should participate in full equality in the decision-making process.
