China Int'l Motorcycle Tourism Festival Closes

The Second China-Yinchuan International Motorcycle Tourism Festival closed Thursday in Yinchuan, capital of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

The week-long event attracted more than 1,600 motorcycle riders from at home and abroad, more than 20 Chinese and the world's brand name motorcycle manufacturers and 200,000 people of Ningxia and other provinces of China, according to the organizing committee.

The president of the Asian Motorcycling Federation and the president of the Commission for Leisure Motorcycling of the International Motorcycling Federation were also invited to attend the grand event. They spoke highly of the great job Yinchuan has done in successfully hosting the event.

The first China-Yinchuan International Motorcycle Tourism Festival was held in June, 2000.

China manufactures 11 million motorcycles annually, or 50 percent of the world's total. Among per thousand people worldwide, 27 have motorcycles.

Each year, a total of 50,000 to 60,000 motorcycles are sold in Ningxia, where 10 of per thousand people have motorcycles.
