Chinese Tourism Promotion Caravans in America

China National Tourism Administration has organized 25 Chinese tourism companies to launch a promotion activity along the eastern coast of America since June 14. It is a large-scale tourism promotion that is in direct touch with the local people in USA. Photo shows the delegation of Chongqing Municipality is handing out tourism materials and brochures.

New Look in Old Revolutionary Base Areas

Significant achievements have been made in Hong'an County and Macheng city, the world-famous old revolutionary base areas located at the southern foot of Dabie Mountains, Hubei Province. The areas used to be the birthplace of the fourth red army where staged the Huangma Uprising and nurtured more than 200 generals of China. Nowadays the place has taken a turn for the better towering with blocks of new buildings and easy traffic and communications and the people there are enjoying a happy life. Now the people in the old liberated areas, by displaying their revolutionary spirit and working hard, are ready to meet with the new opportunities and challenges with an utterly new feature.

China, Britain, India Save Tibetan Antelopes

China, Britain and India will co-operate in an international campaign to save endangered Tibetan antelopes by cracking down on the trade in shahtoosh wool. This international effort seeks to halt the trade at the sites of capture, production and sale.

Xigaze Witnesses Historic Change

Xigaze, the world highest city at an altitude of 3,850 meters in Tibet Autonomous Region, has made significant achievements after 50-year construction and development. The city has been expanded ten times as it was before with its population increased to more than 10,000. It has basically turned into the second large city in Tibet with modern farming and tourism industry. Photo shows beautiful scene in the suburban areas of Xigaze.

Annan Nominated to Top UN Post for Second Term

United Nations Secretary- General Kofi Annan wan unanimously nominated by the 15-member Security Council on Wednesday to his current post as the world's top diplomat for a second five-year term beginning January 1, 2002.
