Forum on CPC's 80th Anniversary, Jiang Zemin's Speech

People from the United Work Front convened a forum in the Great Hall of the People Sunday afternoon to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

At the forum, the participants also discussed the speech delivered by the Party General Secretary Jiang Zemin at a grand celebrating function held in the Great Hall of the People Sunday morning.

While congratulating the Party on its 80th anniversary, people from national committees of different noncommunist parties in China, the All-China Federation for Industry and Commerce, personages of non-party affiliations, minority nationalities and religious communities, as well as representatives from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and people representing overseas Chinese exchanged experience at studying Jiang's speech, recalled the past history of helping each other with the CPC, and spoke highly of the achievements made by the CPC in leading the Chinese people in the causes of revolution, construction and reform.

The participants said they were inspired and encouraged at the important speech made by Jiang and also pledged to unite and struggle hard to realize the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in the new century under the leadership of CPC.

The speech fully summed up the CPC's history of struggle and experience in the past 80 years, further outlined the CPC's task of stepping up and improving the Party building, and urged all members of the CPC to continue to struggle hard in order to realize the Party's basic line and historic mission, said the participants.

"The speech is an important document to guide the CPC's construction in the new century and is also of great significance for stepping up construction of non-communist parties in China," said the participants.

They pledged to carry out a careful study of Jiang's speech, take the initiatives of upholding the system of multi-party cooperation and political consultation at the leadership of the CPC, and carrying forward the great cause of building socialism with Chinese characteristics together with the CPC.

The forum was presided over by Luo Haocai, vice chairman of 9th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and also chairman of the 11th Central Committee of China Zhi Gong Party (Public Interest Party).
