Chinese Vice-Premier Meets HK Investment Delegation

Vice-Premier Wen Jiabao met Tuesday with a delegation led by Tsui Sze Man and Hui Chi Ming, director and chairman, respectively, of the Hong Kong General Commerce Chamber of International Investment (HKGCCII).

Wen spoke highly of the HKGCCII's efforts in promoting economic cooperation and exchanges between Hong Kong, the inland area and overseas.

The vice-premier also briefed the guests on China's policy of increasing domestic demand, development strategy in the western area and poverty-relief, saying that the commercial circles in Hong Kong have great development opportunities in these sectors.

He said that he hoped the chamber would further enhance exchanges and cooperation with its inland counterparts in economic construction, poverty-relief and development projects.

The 20-member HKGCCII delegation arrived here June 28, and plans to visit three major cities -- Beijing, Zhengzhou and Xi'an - - during its eight-day tour.
