HK's Min Chiu Society Shows Collections to Promote Appreciation of Chinese Art

An exhibition entitled "In Pursuit of Antiquities: 40th Anniversary Exhibition of the Min Chiu Society" was opened in the Hong Kong Museum of Art Thursday.

The exhibition was co-organized by the Min Chiu Society and the Museum of Art to celebrate the society's 40th anniversary.

Featuring 245 works of art selected from the rich collection of the members, the exhibition presents the public the cream of Chinese art and culture.

Exhibits on display consists of Chinese paintings and calligraphy, bronze wares, jade, ceramics, gold wares, glass wares, lacquer, snuff bottles, enamel and furniture, dating from the Neolithic Period (BC2200-BC2000) to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

Highlights include works by famous painters and calligraphers such as Mi Fu, Wang Meng, Zhao Mengfu, Shen Zhou, Tang Yin, Kun Can.

There are also "sancai" pottery of the Tang Dynasty, Longquan wares, Cizhou wares, Ding wares and Jun wares of the Song Dynasty, as well as the blue and white porcelain, polychrome wares and monochrome wares of the Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty.

The Min Chiu Society has over 70 members, including overseas and honorary members. Most of them are professionals and Chinese art lovers.
