Ministry of Agriculture Sends Work Teams to Guangdong and Guangxi

The Ministry of Agriculture has lately sent work teams to the typhoon-hit areas in south China's Guangdong Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to take emergency measures to reduce the losses to the minimum and organize rescue efforts

Rainstorms caused by Typhoon Utor, which is the fourth one this year, have hit most parts in Guangdong and it rained hard in such provinces as Fujian, Guangdong, Jiangxi and what not from July 6 to July 8. The agricultural losses caused by Utor are under investigation.

The former typhoon Civet Durian swept westward after landing in Guangdong's Zhanjiang and Guangxi's Qinzhou this July. The direct economic losses in agriculture caused by the typhoon Civet Durian are estimated at 3.7 billion yuan in Guangdong Province and 1.22 billion yuan in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region respectively.
