Tourism Fixed Assets to Outstrip 647.3 Billion Yuan

Up to the end of 2000, the number of employees directly engaged in tourism industry has come up to 5.6415 million and the industry fixed assets reached RMB 647.362 billion yuan, an increases of 10 percent and 21 percent over that of 1999 respectively as statistics from China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) indicate.

The report also shows that the total turnover of the 24,574 tourism enterprises have come to RMB 199.238 billion yuan in 2000, and the tax paid to the state was up to RMB 6.987 billion yuan, an increase of 22.5 percent and 10.8 percent over that of 1999 respectively, realizing a profit of RMB 1.297billion yuan.
