Ethiopia Spends 1.2 Million US Dollars on Heritage Restoration

The Ethiopian government has spent at least 1.2 million U.S. dollars on the restoration and preservation of historical heritage in various states in the country over the past five years.

Tadese Wolde-Aregay, a heritage expert of Ethiopian Information and Cultural Ministry, said here on Wednesday that the restoration of the historical sites was undertaken in the Amhara, Tigray, Oromiya and Harrari states.

He said Ethiopia, which is described as a civilized country with a history of at least 3,000 years, possesses many well-known historical sites around the country, among which some have been listed as world major historical and cultural sites under protection.
