Woman Soldiers on Xisha Islands

Since middle of May seven woman soldiers for communication began to station on the Xisha Islands for a sacred mission of construction and protection of the islands, this being the first batch of woman soldiers on the islands. Baffling severe living conditions they have done a very good job there, hence named "Flowers on Xisha".

Central Part of Bridge over Jialing River Completed

As a key project in Chongqing municipality, the central part of a double line bridge over Jialing River has been joined up July 18. It will open to traffic by the end of December 2001 to greatly ease traffic pressure of Chongqing City.
