Biggest Central China City Attracts More Overseas Investment

Wuhan, most important industrial city in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, had an inflow of 713.91 million U.S. dollars of overseas investment from January to June, up 9.8 percent from the same period last year.

Information from the office for overseas investment of Wuhan, also capital of Hubei Province and the biggest city in central China, said that the city approved 91 overseas-financed businesses in the first six months of the year, with contracts involving 863. 91 million U.S. dollars of overseas investment, up 65 percent according to comparable figure of last year.

With the increased amount of overseas investment flowing into this central Chinese city, Wuhan has also seen improvement with its overseas investment structure.

The number of overseas financed high-tech ventures and service trade businesses are increasing rapidly. Investment from Taiwan has also climbed up. In the first six months, the city approved 15 ventures involving 60.9 million U.S. dollars in investment from Taiwan.

During the same period, 19 existing overseas financed businesses in the city added 24 million U.S. dollars to their investments in Wuhan, said the local sources.
