Beijing Hosts World Robot Football Tournament

An international football tournament between robots opened on August 1 at the Beijing-based China Science and Technology Museum.

The tournament was launched by the International Robot Football Association, which had previously organized five similar games, sources said.

The event has attracted entries more than forty teams from Japan, Australia and other countries.

The advanced video-audio sensing equipment and intelligence control systems enable the robots to cooperate with their "team mates" and shoot the ball accurately, experts said.

Instead of people, the built-in well-designed intelligence control programs automatically manipulate the robots.

As a sideline event to the tournament, a symposium will also be staged to discuss the technologies concerning intelligence science.
