Koizumi to Attend Hiroshima A-bomb Ceremony

Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi will visit Hiroshima on Monday to attend a ceremony marking the 56th anniversary of the atomic bombing of the city, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuo Fukuda said Thursday.

In Hiroshima, the premier will also visit a rehabilitation center for survivors of the bombing, and hold a meeting with representatives of the survivors to hear their requests, the top government spokesman said at a news conference.

Koizumi is also expected to visit Nagasaki on Aug. 9 to participate in a ceremony marking the anniversary of the atomic bombing of the city, government officials said.
